América and Chivas will face on October 11 at State Farm Stadium
Glendale, AZ – (August 19, 2025) – Mexican soccer’s top rivalry is heading back to the desert!
Today, Club América and Chivas de Guadalajara announced the return of El Clásico de México to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The two iconic clubs will face off on Saturday, October 11 at 8:00pm MST reigniting a legendary matchup that last captivated Arizona fans in October 2006—one of the earliest events ever hosted at the venue now known as State Farm Stadium. The match will be promoted and managed in partnership with Unified Events.
This highly anticipated clash marks another chapter in a historic rivalry that began in 1943 and has since defined Mexican soccer. Club América and Chivas de Guadalajara are not only the most successful clubs in the country but also command the largest and most passionate fanbases across the Americas.
Héctor González Iñárritu, President of Operations for Club América said, “A new edition of “El
Clásico de México” in the United States is a great opportunity to bring fans closer to the sport and give them a unique experience, such as a match between the two most popular teams in Mexican soccer. It is very important for the Club to continue playing high-level matches on US soil, while encouraging our loyal fans to maintain a special connection with Mexico and with the most successful team in the region, las Águilas.”
"After almost a decade without coming to Phoenix, we are very happy to return to play El Clásico de México,” said Javier Mier, Sporting Director of Chivas de Guadalajara. “To do it in a game of this magnitude, and to meet again with our fans in the US, fills us with pride and motivates us to the maximum. I’m sure that this will be an unforgettable experience, and we hope to culminate it with a great performance on the field and, of course, with a win, which is what La Nación Rojiblanca always deserves."
“In the world of fútbol, there are few more exciting and high-profile matchups than El Clásico de México,” said Jon Sheiman, Senior Vice-President, Unified Events. “Working with the two most popular teams in Liga MX, Club América and Chivas de Guadalajara, is a privilege. We’re excited to bring this event to State Farm Stadium and give the passionate fútbol fans of Arizona a chance to cheer on their heroes in person.”
